Magyarbóly – History (in Hungarian)

 is a village in Baranya County, Siklós District, Hungary.

The settlement and its surroundings were inhabited already in ancient times, as evidenced by the Roman finds found here.

The name of Magyarbóly first appears in the charters in 1287, when it was written in the form of Boyad. The village was the property of the Bólyai family for a long time, then the Kórógyi family became its owners, and the Franciscan monastery was also founded by the Kórógyi family, which operated here for many decades. In the 15th century, the area was famous for its wines and trade, but the boom was interrupted by the Turkish occupation and later the period of the Rákóczi War of Independence, after which the settlement was depopulated.
